  • Overview

    The entry-level environmental scientist for the Dallas office is responsible for thorough and accurate execution of compliance, geosciences, and natural resource projects to include field work, research and report writing under the supervision of a project manager/technical expert.


    The entry-level environmental scientist will report directly to the Project/ Division Manager, while supporting other division’s environmental projects/operations as needed.


    • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of environmental compliance (water, air or waste) and geosciences (remediation, environmental site assessments, environmental due diligence) for permit applications or amendments, compliance reporting, and regulatory compliance audits and analysis
    • Customer Service: Be focused on client/customer retention and development/growth
    • Reporting: Prepares and maintains reports based on site-specific information that are necessary to carry out both regulatory and internal reporting. Prepare registrations for state agencies and assemble other documents as necessary for submittal to the state and local regulatory agencies for our clients. Perform technical work on projects or assignments as directed and with supervision
    • Skills: Familiar with the appropriate regulatory authorities and regulations related to water, air and waste management. Understanding of Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessment processes and ASTM E1527-13 protocols. Familiarity with developing permits and plans (Multi-Sector General Permits, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, Spill Prevention Control and Counter measures Plans, Permits by Rule, New Source Review permits). Detail oriented and willingness to work within a team. Achieve monthly and annual utilization goals and other key performance indicators as assigned. Any experience in managing people, projects, and budgets is a plus
    • Travel: Be prepared to directly serve Texas sites as required
    • Cross Training: Participate in department cross training program to develop skills in all environmental service areas
    • Safety: Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example
    • Serves as a backup inspector and other duties as assigned by Direct Report


    • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science/engineering, chemistry, geology, biology or related field
    • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
    • Proven experience working effectively in a team environment
    • Must be able to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner and skillfully gather and analyze information
    • Proven experience working on multiple projects, producing accurate information while meeting deadlines
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher)
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Must be able to work well with all levels of people within the organization and outside of the company
    • Requires professional appearance, pleasant telephone voice, agreeable personality, and the ability to meet people and make them feel comfortable
    • On the job training and supervision will be provided. However, candidates are expected to be quick and enthusiastic learners capable of operating standard field equipment and tools in a manner to support client needs
    • Must be able to work beyond the normal work schedule when needed
    • Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet company’s auto insurability requirements
    • Ability to interface with and between regulatory agencies and private industry
    • Ability to drive company vehicle, manage and complete all assigned jobs, efficiently and on time
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis
    • Ability to work independently on a job site
    • 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER
    • If required, the ability to travel up to and more than 40% as well as overnight


    • Works in a normal office work environment primarily and in the field at various industrial/construction locations as required
    • Work related responsibilities require travel to client offices or event locations, as necessary

    Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
