  • Overview

    The primary responsibility of the Director of Business Development-Education (Director) is to meet or exceed growth targets for the education sector in the Houston marketplace for all applicable RK service lines. The Director also will contribute to the overall growth performance for the Houston marketplace. The Director will assist in the development and execution of the Houston-Education Sector growth plan that reflects the firm’s Customer Intimate Business Model. The plan will serve as a component of the overall Houston Marketplace Growth Plan. The Director will report directly to the Houston Marketplace Leader and will collaborate with Directors of Business Development for other market sectors in the Houston marketplace, Houston Service Line Managers, technical staff, Chief Marketing Officer, and Chief Operating Officers for all relevant services. The Director also will work closely with the Corporate Development Department to establish education-specific marketing initiatives. The Director will be responsible for tracking relationship management and project pursuit activities in the firm’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) system.

     

    The Director will represent all of the firm’s services applicable to the Education sector and will help identify and evaluate other potential services that could add value to clients. The Director also will represent the firm in targeted trade organizations.

    Responsibilities

    • Growth Strategy Development: Lead the development of a comprehensive Education sector growth plan for the Houston marketplace with assistance from RK leadership and business development staff. Work closely with Houston Marketplace Leader, Service Group Leaders and Corporate Development to establish specific net revenue and net fees booked targets, targeted firms, complimentary professional organization activities, marketing support, and other resources required to execute the growth plan
    • Sales: Establish and manage client relationships, and lead/participate in project pursuits within the Houston marketplace and identified in the growth plan. Develop and execute customized client relationship and project capture plans
    • Growth Collaboration: Collaborate with Houston Marketplace Growth team, service group leaders, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Operating Officers from relevant services, and Corporate Development staff to share market intelligence and leads that contribute to market sector and marketplace growth. Collaboration includes participating in scheduled marketplace growth meetings and planning sessions. It also includes utilizing the firm’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) system to document relationship management and project pursuit activities
    • Marketing Coordination: Collaborate with Corporate Development in the development of Education sector marketing material, presentations, website enhancements, marketing campaigns, trade show booth development and support, and other marketing interventions required to execute the growth plan
    • Professional Organization Involvement: Represent the firm with trade organizations that complement the growth plan. Participate in trade organizations at board or committee level
    • Client Service: Participate in securing and monitoring client feedback. Participate in client meetings to understand client success factors and expectations. Serve as liaison between RK clients and staff to help resolve client issues. Serve as Client Manager for client relationships that Director establishes
    • Analysis and Monitoring: Monitor and assess net revenue trends, growth performance indices, competitor activity, and industry trends
    • Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example
    • Other duties as deemed necessary

    Qualifications

    • 15+ years’ experience successfully developing, managing and executing sales programs with at least 5 years serving the education sector
    • Knowledgeable of Houston marketplace education sector and the architecture, engineering, construction and project management firms who serve the market sector
    • Proven experience providing counsel to senior management
    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally in group or individual settings
    • Excellent reputation as a person who maintains the highest ethical standards and consistently follows through on commitments
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment—sometimes serving as a group leader and other times serving as team member
    • Ability to analyze a situation; develop and execute a plan of action
    • Presents a professional appearance to best represent the company
    • PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and assistance with Power Point presentations
    • Possesses valid Texas driver’s license and meet company’s auto insurability requirements
    • Ability to drive company vehicle, manage and complete all assigned jobs, efficiently and on time
    • Ability to comply with all attendance requirements as noted in Corporate Policy Manual

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Work environment includes Regional offices, client offices, and other off-site client locations
    • Work hours are irregular and expected to be greater than 40 and will require extensive vehicular travel
    • Work travel may include client/project meetings out-of-state or internationally

    Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
