    The Corporate Development Department of Raba Kistner is a fast-paced environment that works at the heart of the company, leading and participating in corporate growth and communication initiatives at many levels. The Public Relations (PR) Intern shall support the Director of Marketing with both internal and external communications for the entire Raba Kistner Enterprise, which is a multi-discipline, multi-office project management, engineering, environmental consulting and materials testing company with offices in Texas, Utah, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Mexico, and operations in many other states.

     

    The PR Intern’s primary responsibility is working closely with the Director of Marketing and the Social Media Coordinator to support the overall business development efforts of the Raba Kistner Enterprise, with the goal of increasing company awareness and reputation and to support the company’s growth goals. Communication with Raba Kistner staff in all of our offices is a regular part of this job.

    General responsibilities include:

     

    • Primary responsibility for writing of new hire/promotion and other business releases
    • Assisting with generating content for the social media and website effort
    • Contributing (writing) content for 5 company newsletters
    • Posting to media calendar and updating media contact lists
    • Preparing for and participating in (when possible) media events

    Responsibilities

    Writing New Hire/Other Releases (50%)

    • Employee must be able to demonstrate a high skill level for writing and editing.  Must be able to read resumes and job descriptions, identify important areas, and write a one-page release on the assigned topic.  Job could include interviewing an employee or their supervisor

    Generating content for social media/websites/internal RK newsletter (30%)

    • Employee will use their writing skills and creativity to assist in procucing content for social media and website tools.  Job will include communication with various employees throughout the enterprise.  Will also include generating content for employee newsletter

    PR Event/other outreach (10%)

     

    Support Marketing Director by producing for marketing initiatives including, but not limited to:

    • Design, writing and production of flyers, email blasts for both internal and external events
    • Assist with Conference/Trade-Show planning, marketing materials and attendance.
    • Development of various contact lists

    Special Projects/Events Support (10%)

     

    Participate in and support Marketing Director on special projects when needed, including, but not limited to:

    • Support for seminars, client receiptions andother events for all offices to include design, production, and mailing of invitations; and generate follow-up marketing collateral, meeting planning and meeting management

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Education in a related field that requires a high level of writing skills, including English, public relations, marketing, journalism, digital media, etc.
    • Excellent writing/editing skills. Must demonstrate skill level through graded writing samples
    • Minimum word processing of 40 wpm with accuracy
    • Excellent oral communication and people skills to interact successfully with RK staff and leadership, media representatives
    • Good time management skills and ability to balance multiple, short-term deadlines. Good at detail management for projects with multiple elements to be combined into a single deliverable. Well organized
    • Shall be self-motivated with a high level of professionalism and initiative in performing duties
    • Works well with all types and levels of people
    • Persistent, tactful, enthusiastic
    • High proficiency with computer software: working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Publisher, PowerPoint, Word)
    • Proficiency with InDesign, working knowledge and skill level with the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), a plus
    • Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet company's auto insurability requirements
    • Ability to comply with all attendance requirements as noted in most current edition of Corporate Policy Manual.  Must be a true team player
    • Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs and set a good safety example

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Works in normal office environment at our corporate headquarters in San Antonio, Texas 

    Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
