Overview

Responsible to conduct laboratory testing, field observation and testing services to included field sampling, when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Contacts Direct Report for priorities and deadlines both in the field and laboratory
  • Performs assignments in accordance with established procedures and specifications
  • Performs assignments in order to meet project deadlines
  • Performs routine maintenance and calibration of equipment and maintains proper documentation of maintenance and calibration
  • Uses laboratory equipment in a safe manner to minimize wear and preclude damage
  • Assists in other areas of the laboratory or field when necessary as determined by Direct Report
  • Insures the safe utilization, transportation, storage, and maintenance of nuclear gauges
  • Insures safe usage and maintenance of company vehicles and test equipment
  • Updates Direct Report on progress, delays, and problems on every project
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Direct Report

Qualifications

  • High school or G.E.D. certification
  • Minimum of 1 year geotechnical laboratory experience
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Heavy lifting and carrying (45+ lbs.) to move equipment and sample containers
  • Maneuver within confines of laboratory. Access shelves, cabinets, etc. that have been constructed to preserve the integrity of the physical conditions of samples
  • Communication skills with clients, coworkers, and project managers
  • Dexterity to utilize delicate and small laboratory equipment
  • Distinguish colors and shades of colors to describe soils and analyze laboratory results
  • Sufficient math and science skills to analyze laboratory results
  • Presents a professional appearance to best represent the firm
  • Ability to comply with all attendance and tardy requirements as per company policy

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works in laboratory environment containing dangerous chemicals and solvents
  • Conditions include humidity, noise, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, electrical energy, and grease and oils
  • May be required to work protracted and irregular hours to meet deadlines
  • Work related responsibilities may require travel out of town to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations

Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
